The Johnathon Daniel Luoma Foundation was created by our family to carry on John's memory and giving nature. We lost John on May 10, 2016.

The main focus of the foundation is on the effects of PTS and related illnesses for both individuals and their families. Growing up in Wausau, Wisconsin, John was very outgoing and social. While a member of a Christian youth group and as an Eagle Scout, everyone gravitated to John for leadership. This was mostly due to his outgoing and positive disposition. John joined the Navy on August 10th, 2010 as a Navy Corpsman. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed at Great Lakes, San Antonio, Fort Beaufort, and his final destination, the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. His children accompanied him at Fort Beaufort and Jacksonville.

Through all of John's stops, he brought life to any situation, especially when friends and family needed help. John was very giving and thought of others before he thought of himself. He was the definition of Random Acts of Kindness. However, John also developed many personal struggles, but he kept these private and hidden from his public persona. If John could only have realized all the support and love that were directed at him, the ending chapter of his story could have been written much differently. It's for this reason that we have started the foundation in memory of our son.

Here is the reality. Every day in the U.S., an average of 22 veterans take their own lives. This has to stop. The foundation's purpose is to find ways to eliminate this reality. We plan to do this by teaming up with both civilian and military organizations to provide "at risk" individuals an outlet for them to realize all is not lost. This is our mission. In his memory, carry on John's spirit and perform a Random Act of Kindness today...it will make your day.
